About CannedRabies

Who's this guy?

Hey there, thanks for checking out my page! My name is Phineas, but I usually go by Graves (you can call me either), imma 20-something queer trans man from almost-but-not-quite East Coast, USA. I was born in October– lucky 13th, of course– and it definitely shows: My favorite holiday is Halloween, bats are my favorite animal (tied with skunks, actually), and the only spice my white ass can tolerate is pumpkin. I enjoy getting lost in the woods, collecting random junk like bones & street signs, and dressing like a stereotypical 90’s cartoon bully– complete with generic edgy decal black t-shirt & spiked leather cuffs.

I’m also an amatuer cartoonist & aspiring writer, currently workshopping a comic series called PsychøSexual (PØS). Check it out here, or stay here and read more about me.

My style & stories are heavily influenced by the shows I watched growing up in the mid-to-late 2000’s (especially Ed Edd n Eddy), the horrorpunk/metal music I’ve been listening to since I was a kid (mostly Misfits & Harley Poe), and my fascination with the macabre (serial killers, occultism, typical goth shit). I chose the name “Canned Rabies” because I wanted something that reflected my art: furry, edgy, and stupid. Even though I don’t really consider myself a furry anymore– nothing against furries, just grew detached from the label– I still enjoy drawing silly cartoon animal-people, and I still hold my fursona near & dear to my heart.

Why a website?

Presumably the same reason as everyone else: social media sucks, I want something more personalized, removed from all the noise. I’ve never been all that tech savvy, I don’t know much about coding or web design, but I’ve recently taken up creative writing again, and I’ve been journaling & documenting my mental health journey for the better part of 3 years, so I’d like to have a blog of some sort. A place where I can talk about myself, my art & stories, my personal life, whatever I want-- a place that I can call mine.
